Our Primary Services
Here at STi, we have spent a lot of time building both small and large applications that revolve around live communication both in data and video/audio. These applications have been built both for desktop in HTML5 and Flash and also within the mobile world of iOS and Android. Building for each different platform requires a really powerful and robust backend, which is why we primarily use Wowza Streaming Engine for our streaming applications and projects.
Desktop and Mobile Development
You can’t get by anymore with just “some website” that works in a normal browser on a normal computer. It’s important when we build that we think about all platforms and how to support them if we can. Understanding how and when to support which technology for which platform is imperative now or you’ll just lose clients and users. This is something we are very aware of when we make recommendations and work on projects.
We Also Play Around
Being in the technological world for so long, it’s impossible to note dabble in many different things.
We’ve also played with Virtual reality and will be updating this page with more information on that shortly. You’d want to keep up to date on what we do here on our blog.
How About an Example
To give an example of a project that might employ our services, we may consider a live broadcasting application that requires the ability for viewers to interact with the producer of the live stream. The ability to record and playback such streams is imperative. With that, there is always a need to have registration and the whole thing has to look good. It’s handy to have an interface both on desktop and mobile, so we may incorporate some responsive design and development into the website or just straight up build brand new apps for both mobile operating systems.
This means that we provide services to help you get your project off the ground that involves messing with databases, server side coding like PHP, streaming media whether it’s VOD or live and all communication between the streaming engine and the server side for recording, security and interactivity. The server side streaming may be with Wowza Streaming Engine or Adobe’s Media Server or taking advantage of WebRTC for some peer to peer action. There are lots of options.
Each area has it’s own technology but most likely we would be building applications that blur line between all of them. For example, we have built many live applications that then require a content management system to go with it.
With that, it then becomes important to build out the identity of the product with colors, graphics and logo. This is all included in the layout and design process of the project.
From there we may work on getting an animated short or introduction video or set of eLearning videos out and then make it all accessible to mobile devices. Each of these areas has specific programs and languages to be used and below you will find an overall list of our ever-growing repertoire of creative and technical capabilities to answer whether or not we can fit into your project.
