We have a brand new product released today to address the highly requested item of security for streams from Wowza. While there are many other options regarding security out of the box with Wowza, and a few 3rd party modules, we always thought that there was one missing of a token based system to protect any and all streams on the box. Our new STi Streaming Protection module and application product addresses the issue of spoofers of domains and IP addresses and gets down to locking streams down with a token. A token is a unique ID that can be used multiple times or just one time and is an alias to the actual stream on the server.
STi Streaming Protection for Wowza intercepts the requests for a stream and checks the database to see if the stream requested has a token by using the token value instead of the stream. The token is mapped to the stream and if the token is actually valid, then the player gets the right stream. If not, then you can set up the module to hand back a different stream.
We’re at version 1 of the product and have a pile of features still on the list to add in. Once purchased though, you get the security module for Wowza, a document with all the details on setup and how easy it is and with that a browser based application that can get you started in protecting your streams right away.
