We have a brand new product released just the other day which will help Wowza Streaming Engine server managers manage the log files that live on Wowza. We’ve seen countless requests and implementations of culling log files or the content that is in them for Wowza as they can very much take up a lot of space over time on the server. This space can at times be at a premium, especially on virtual machines that usually use the cloud for content, but still require log files etc to be hosted on it. While Wowza does allow you to put your log files elsewhere, that generally comes at the expense of hiring somebody to do and manage that, and the possible performance hit as these log files are written to a lot.
Our latest product, while in it’s infancy just yet, is very simple. You setup how many days you want log files to live. The module will then take action each time that Wowza is started up and will double check to make sure that the files that aren’t required any longer, due to being old, are removed. We have big plans for this as we know that there are many other options and requests for log management, this is the simplest and will only become more advanced and capable from this point. Check that out here.
