Just thought I would post up on how I solved my FB4.6 issues on install.
I happen to have the cs5.5 master collection but I also have a serial number for Flash Builder itself. I didn’t bother to note down which serial number I was using before I rampantly uninstalled 4.5 in my haste to upgrade to 4.6 which is supposedly faster and better. Let’s just say I could use a lot more “faster” around here..
So uninstall and go to reinstall and it throws the “you can’t install iOS support for Air” error at the point of install. OK. “What’s that?”, I say and peruse the internet quickly to find that many others are having the same problem of that they have no idea on how to uninstall this particular item. It comes with the master collection and is an option, but I uninstalled with the “uninstall” app in the flash builder 4.5 app directory. So.. without going any further I downloaded the “clean up” tool from Adobe’s site and “cleaned up” cs5.5, not realizing it completely obliterates cs5.5 (or at least most of it)…
So, off to download the master collection again. Two hours later, it’s on my hard drive and 30 mins after that it’s installed. I unchecked Flash builder and that iOS for Air piece and then went ahead and installed Flash Builder 4.6 from there. No problems at all after that.
Actually, I can’t update Premiere due to some cryptic error message that if you get the “support advisor” app from Adobe you can check out what that is.. or not, as it took me to some generic page on that error number and talked about Flash cs5.5. Adobe’s support system sure is lame in that area.
Either way, 4.6 is running and I’ve been using it all day. Maybe that series of steps will help somebody.
On that note, I didn’t have to do anything with serial numbers. The installers (both which went very smoothly actually) knew what the serial number should be and that was that.
