I just recently needed to change the scroll position of the content of a Scroller component and looked around for a bit before finally finding the solution. More stumbled upon it than anything else..
Anyways, once you have your scroller setup and the content placed in (here’s a post to help with filling up the scroller with AS), you just need to set a couple of values to go one way or the other. I’m using mine in an image thumbnail viewer so I’m going horizontal:
imageScroller.viewport.horizontalScrollPosition += 10;
Now, the Scroller is called “imageScroller” and the viewport is what is being “viewed” in the scroller. Setting it’s horizontalScrollPosition will move it around. I have a timer setup to move the content when a button is depressed so it will move it every 10 milliseconds. The only way to polish this up further is to add a tween to that when the button stops being pressed.
While a simple solution, it wasn’t something that was obvious to me so hopefully it’ll help somebody else.
