We’ve finally rebuilt, redesigned and revamped FMSGuru.com from the ground up and pretty proud of it. The new layout and design are much more accessible, tablet accommodating and user friendly. The old design was good, but it’s been just over 4 years now (time flies..) and a face lift and functionality improvement was in order.
One of the bigger improvements (which ironically is coming at a good time) is an improvement in our video player for the free tutorials. The primary will be, and will stay this way for the foreseeable future, the Flash Player advanced video player we have. The fallback now is a HTML5′s video tag. So.. for now with the encoding we provide, iOS devices should be good. All other platforms should be fine because of the latest Flash Player that they have been imbued with very recently, should work fabulously. I don’t see any need to change that for quite some time.
Searching is easier and faster with better results. We now provide tags for tutorials, related tutorials listings and of course the usual ability to comment or ask questions directly to a tutorial on the forum.
There is a new news section now dedicated to posting news about the site, with the latest 3 on the home page for convenience. RSS feeds are there still for all areas of the site, news, articles, forum and video tutorials.
As mentioned in a previous post, we’ve got a whole bunch of new tutorials up talking about working with the basics of Actionscript 3 development in Flash (which can apply just fine in Flash Builder/Flex) and now one more for installing Wowza Media Server on Windows with notes about upgrading from version 2. Definitely worth a quick glance as it’s only 6 mins or so.
Anyways, we have many more updates and tutorials to come. I’ve got another post I want to put up shortly on a brand new product we have just released too for Wowza. Cool stuff all around, so stay tuned!
A big huge thanks to Parlour Creative, they did a great job on the design on not only the site but also our latest product there, and were a true pleasure to work with. I’ve known Eoin for quite some time now and had the pleasure to work together on a few projects now, it’s always been a great experience and I highly recommend them for design work.
